We are a family run store owned by a couple of native born Mainers (and a dog from Kentucky) who just happen to be Beer Geeks. On our wedding day we opened a bottle of Westvleteren 12, instead of Champagne, proof that I have the world’s coolest wife.

Greg Norton – I was born and raised in Buxton, Maine and have lived and worked in the Portland area my entire life. I feel lucky to have grown up surrounded by all the craft beer we have here in Maine, and I am excited to share that with our customers. I have been a homebrewer since 2008, and I am a certified BJCP Provisional Judge. I am also a Cicerone Certified Beer Server which requires “competent knowledge of beer storage and service issues as well as modest knowledge of currently popular beer styles and culture and basic familiarity with beer tasting and flavors as well as brewing process and ingredients”. Feel free to come in and chat about beer, homebrewing or any of our product offerings or shoot me an email at greg at biercellar.com.

Katie Norton - I am originally from Auburn, Maine and I began drinking craft beer when I returned to Portland after college. Since I met Greg my beer knowledge has grown significantly through his homebrewing and our getting our chalices at Novare Res (yes I have one too!). I am currently studying to get my Cicerone certification so I can better educate others on the wonderful varieties of beer. I have also dabbled at making mead. I love educating others about beer tasting and beer pairings and look forward to turning many other people onto great beer.
